We are indeed fortunate to have Deni Jacks living in our community. Deni and her husband T.R. saw a need and decided to do something about it. They recruited and organized hundreds of volunteers to raise over $100,000 and build our own "Playscape" playground......a magnificent addition to our park system. Here is what Greater Danville Chamber of Commerce President Jeff Martin wrote.......

"It can be frustrating trying to be active in community service type things in our town. All too often the reaction to projects designed to better our community is indifference or knee-jerk criticism, or ridicule. After a while all the civic catch phrases like "community pride" or "quality of life" seem to blur together into meaningless cliches. The same folks who always seem to find themselves involved somehow in every effort often wonder why they bother.

I couldn't be more proud of this community for the way it committed itself, and then came through on this major undertaking. As the "build date" approached, the enormity of the project began to sink in on those involved in it's planning.

Our moment of truth arrived, and so did Danville's heart and soul work ethic, a commitment to doing something first class for our community's kids. Volunteers poured in. Not to see and be seen, but to dig and carry and saw and hammer and paint. To feed the troops, to entertain the kids while mom and dad worked, to rake mulch till their arms ached.
